At least 45 people have been killed after a bus carrying tourists crashed in Bulgaria. The accident happened on Tuesday (November 23) morning on the highway leading to the capital Sofia in western Bulgaria. Reuters quoted officials as saying.
Nikolai Nikolaev, head of Bulgaria’s fire safety department, confirmed the incident and said seven burn victims had been rescued and taken to a hospital in Sofia.
According to the Bulgarian news agency BTA, the tourist bus was traveling from Turkey to northern Macedonia. The accident happened on the Strama Highway after coming to a village called Bosnek, 40 kilometers west of the capital Sofia.
The bus had 52 passengers. Of which 12 are children. The idea is that all passengers on the bus could be citizens of northern Macedonia. Northern Macedonian Prime Minister Zoran Zayev has already spoken to the Bulgarian prime minister about the accident.
